Who is Robert M. Decker?

In 1987, Robert founded Westcare Management. He worked several jobs when he was young and attending school to provide for his education and his family. He started out as an aide at the Veterans Hospital in Utah, working the night shift while going to school and working another job. He often ended up with less than four hours of sleep per night. He continued in healthcare, earning his Master’s degree and working as an administrator and later an owner of healthcare facilities. Robert learned the value of education and has a desire to help those in the companies that Westcare serves to attain their educational goals, so he started the Robert M. Decker Foundation.  

What does the Foundation do?

The Robert M. Decker Foundation provides financial assistance for school to employees of a Westcare-managed company.

Who qualifies for financial assistance?

Employees of any Westcare-managed company, who have been employed for at least six months at the time of application, may apply.

What type of education is covered?

A variety of schools are acceptable, including universities, colleges, trade schools, or certificate programs. 

Are there any application or transaction fees?

No!

What if I get a new job after I apply?

To be eligible to receive the Scholarship, you must be currently employed with a Westcare-managed company at the time the Scholarship is awarded. If you leave the company after you submit your application, you will not be considered. 

How much is each Scholarship?

The amount of each scholarship will vary depending on how many are awarded. This could range anywhere from $500 to $5,000, but will not exceed the cost of the term's tuition.

How often are Scholarships awarded? May I apply more than once?

Scholarships are awarded twice a year, in the Winter and Summer. There is no limit to how many times you may apply.

How do I receive the Scholarship funds?

Scholarship funds are issued by a check in your name. It is your responsibility to ensure the payment is given to your school.

What proof do I need to provide to the Foundation?

After the Scholarship payment is issued, you will be required to submit a receipt from your school that the payment was made. After the term is completed, you will also be required to submit your transcript and/or a certificate of completion for the course or term.

Do I ever have to pay back the money?

Potentially. If you do not complete the term that the Scholarship paid towards, or do not provide the required documentation after the term is completed, you may be required to repay the funds, and will not be eligible for future awards through this program.
